Lawrence V. Najarian, MD, founder of Bedminster Eye and Laser Center, was honored by the Boy Scouts of America with the Good Scout Award. Dr. Najarian and several other community leaders were recognized in October at the 2018 Watchung Hills Good Scout Awards Dinner. Dr. Najarian is a lifelong Boy Scout, having earned the rank of Eagle Scout at the young age of 13. He served as assistant Scout Master for the Troop attended by his son, Greg, who also attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
“It wasn’t until many years later, that I realized that Boy Scouts provided me with a pathway to achievement, an ethical code of conduct, and commitment to service that have guided my entire life,” Dr. Najarian said.
Along with his scouting activities, Dr. Najarian serves as president of Armenian American Health Professionals Organization (AAHPO), which provides health care and health education in the tri-state area, as well as in Armenia. In that capacity this summer, he visited remote villages and provided eye care to children and adults. Dr. Najarian has led several Medical Missions to Armenia, and has brought his family on some of the trips.
